Hellfire and Brimstone

This blog was originally created because the LGBTQ community is at very high risk of homelessness. It boils down to "Some people are so hostile to the LGBTQ community, they are willing to let LGBTQ people die of exposure."

Sometimes that extreme hostility is justified with religion. I think that's a particularly ugly thing to do.

If you are LGBTQ and someone saddled you with this kind of ugly baggage with regards to Christianity, let me suggest that the most important passage in the Bible is this one:
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ -- Matthew 7:21-23
If you have baggage about any religion with regards to being LGBTQ, please find a way to separate religion from what certain terrible people chose to do to you.

Some people are just poisonous and in most cases that's just those individuals being awful. It's not what religion is about for all people everywhere.

Not everyone uses religion to justify abusive, awful stuff. Some people actually pursue it in hopes of figuring out how to be decent human beings.
